Pen Tool?!

So, I just discovered that there is in fact a pen tool in photoshop! I have absolutely no idea how I missed it, ahahah.
So with that remarkable discovery - how do you guys do your digital artwork? I notice some people have such smooth lines and I just can't seem to create those with my mouse, or tablet. ..are you guys using the pen tool? ;o;
